The total unboxing experience: a new press for two-sided printing in one pass from Koenig & Bauer Celmacch

Chroma 2S for the Chroma High Tech and Smart-Series

The name “Chroma 2S” stands for “two sides”, or to print corrugated board on both sides in a single pass. This is accomplished by adding a top printing unit after the feeder and a vacuum belt connection module that allows connection with next bottom printing units.

The innovative 2S-model is available for all Chroma High Tech and Chroma Smart-series, flexo machines and rotary die-cutters.

Furthermore, Chroma 2S is an HBL machine. Inside the bottom printing units, it is now possible to benefit from all the automations typical of this technology. The machine operator can in fact access the unused printing units – during production, without stopping the machine – and change the cliché or the anilox roll to prepare the next job.

Chroma 2S is equipped with two automatic movement platforms that allow the machine operator to enter the top printing unit to change cliché and doctor blades, and to carry out the maintenance of the feeding rolls. The transition from working to maintenance position of these platforms is totally automatic and extremely fast. The whole movement operation takes just one minute to complete. Thanks to this Koenig & Bauer Celmacch technology, it is possible to keep the machine on the ground-level so, it is not necessary to carry out expensive foundation work.

Modular design enables retrofitting at a later date

Just like all flexo printers and rotary die cutters from the product portfolio by Koenig & Bauer Celmacch, the whole structure of the Chroma 2S is completely modular as well. It is now possible to add both top and bottom additional printing units even after the first completed installation. In this way, Koenig & Bauer Celmacch can continue to satisfy a customers’ new, machine upgrades and enhancements for years to come.
